Digital access to electronic health records is expanding, which raises important questions about how this information should be made available to children and adolescents and the people involved in their care. In this presentation, Josefin Hagström from the PATH research group at Uppsala University https://www.uu.se/en/department/womens-and-childrens-health/research/digital-health-and-mental-health-unit/path—participatory-ehealth-and-health-data discusses her research on access to patient portals for these groups. Josefin shares findings from her studies and doctoral thesis, highlighting key benefits, concerns, and differing perspectives among adolescents, parents, and healthcare professionals. The presentation also outlines why clearer age‑specific guidelines are needed and touches on ongoing regulatory work in Sweden, as well as her contribution to a WHO initiative developing global recommendations on young people’s access to their health data.
